Building a Color Palette You’ll Actually Wear

600

We’ve all bought something in a beautiful color only to realize it matches nothing in our closet. A cohesive color palette solves that problem forever.

Find Your Neutrals

Look at the five pieces you wear most. What color are they? That’s your neutral base. For me it’s cream and camel — warm tones that go with everything. Your base might be black, navy, grey, or taupe. Build from there.

Add One Accent

Choose one color that makes you happy and wear it in small doses — a scarf, a bag, a pair of earrings. Soft sage green, dusty rose, pale lavender. Something gentle that complements your neutrals without overwhelming them.

The Test

Before buying anything, mentally check: does this work with at least five things in my closet? If the answer is no, put it back. Your future self, standing in front of a closet where everything coordinates, will thank you.
